Gust’Arte is an association of concerns - from the areas of Orvieto and the Trasimeno - dealing with tourism, local wines and gastronomy and crafts.
Created in 2003, it is aimed at providing a variety of promotion and marketing services to its member firms. The entrepreneurs of Gust’Arte share important values such as the constant search for quality, a passion for traditional methods of production and an awareness of belonging to a “micro-region” where the authenticity of food and the beauty of handcrafted objects are evidence of good living.
For the members of Gust’Arte, the food and wine and craft traditions are among the most inviting images to offer the tourist. The territory tells its story, its mysteries, and its emotions through its typical products, wine and handicrafts.
Given this firm belief, Gust’Arte intends to contribute to the development of a tourist offer that takes these enjoyable and attractive resources into account, by bringing into play its own abilities and knowledge, and the love for quality and beauty that sustains the daily work of the members of the association.
Presentation
Various cultures and peoples have always found the territory of Orvieto, located in the south-western part of Umbria and bordering with Tuscany and Lazio, a place of cultural exchange and welcome. Today it is traversed by the principal Italian transportation systems (toll throughway of the Autostrada del Sole and the railroad, Direttissima Rome-Florence), connecting the area with the principal cities of Central Italy.

The territory is characterized by the variety of its landscape ranging from areas of volcanic origin to hills and plains of alluvial origins, from the mountain outposts of the Apennines to clay ravines or badlands.
With an incredibly rich history, the area of Orvieto contains archaeological finds and sites of enormous interest. The museums, documentation centers, necropoli and remains of ancient cities and palaces scattered throughout the territory bear witness to the various cultures, Paleolithic, Etruscan, Roman and medieval that left their mark.

This guide presents the area taking some of the material aspects of its highlights as a point of departure. From this history it will move up to today, to the typical productions, the artistic crafts. The unique characteristics of the parks and centers of environmental education that help the visitor “decipher” the thousand signs of a fascinating and intact area will also be described.
The choice of subject matter is arbitrary in keeping with the choices dictated by those who work – every day and concretely – with the legacy of tradition. This is a publication promoted by an Association of firms working in the sector of agricultural food and wine products, crafts and tourist services. It comes as no surprise that the ideal itineraries proposed here reflect, positively, the passion that encourages its associates to confront a past that is their source of inspiration and an admonishment to do it well.
