Parco dei Sette Frati
The Parco dei Sette Frati (S.S. Orvietana 317, San Venanzo) is a splendid green area near the top of Monte Peglia between San Venanzo and Orvieto. In the thirty hectares of the park, tall oaks and pines alternate with recreation areas. There is a picnic area with fireplaces, in addition to a kiosk-bar, an amphitheater for events and a network of trails to be covered on foot, on horseback, or mountain bike.
The Documentation Center of the Flora and Fauna of Monte Peglia (Centro di Documentazione) in the park of the Sette Frati introduces the visitor to the surrounding natural environment. Qualified guides can help to discover the naturalistic features of the territory. Housed in a renovated farm house, the center pursues environmental activities for the schools and is accredited by the Region of Umbria. It organizes guided visits, camp grounds, sojourns, hikes for groups of excursionists, associations and families. A “nature train” and the “butterfly garden” are connected to the center.
